FAQ's
Who can join?
Small Boar is largely aimed at riders and owners of bikes under 250cc, mainly because of the slower riding speeds. However if you own a larger machine and don't mind keeping to the pace (most of the time) you are more than welcome to join us. We welcome diversity and will not discriminate on any grounds based on race, beliefs, sexuality etc.
Do you accept pillion riders?
Yes, we are 'family friendly', and partners, spousers, sons, daughters, friends and family are more than welcome whether on the pillion seat or a bike of their own.
Can I belong to another club?
Yes, we are a group for riders of smaller capacity bikes rather than a 'club'. If you are a member of another club, we would welcome building co-operation and a possible 'road meet' or joint ride-out. We are all about building the enjoyment of motorcycling.
How is Small Boar organised?
Basically Small Boar is about the riders and all riders have an equal say. We don't have a 'leader' and decisions are made by discussion and democratic decisions.
How much does it cost to join?
Nothing - it's free. Just turn and ride. From time to time there maybe the opportunity to buy regalia such as patches, t-shirts or stickers - but it's not compulsory to buy these. We are all about the joy of riding not building a bank account.
I have never been on a ride out before, does this matter?
Of course not. Most members feel safer travelling in a group as other vehicles tend to give a group a bit more respect! We have some basic ride out rules, which are common sense really, designed to make riding as a group safe, enjoyable and ensure nobody gets lost. Check out the Ride-Out rules by clicking HERE
What if my bike breaks down on a ride-out?
We will stop and do whatever we can to help get you going (depending on tools/skills etc) but we do recommend purchasing breakdown cover which can normally be bought with your insurance. 'Workshop Nights' could be organised if there's interest where skills are shared in trying to keep your bike on the road.
Do you accept scooter riders?
We accept scooter riders that have a passion for the freedom of being on 2 wheels, but we are not a group that will be attending traditional scooterist events. In this we are similar to the Mild Hogs based in north west England that accept both bike and scooter riders.
Are there any rules?
Just a few basic ones.
Firstly - follow the Ride-Out Rules.
Secondly - respect others. People have differing tastes be it style of bike, music, fashion, politics, religion, sports teams, sexuality or whatever. Please respect this - so no preaching, abuse or discrimination on any grounds. Thirdly - If a members bike breaks down or is off the road, if possible try and help them.
And Finally - Enjoy your motorcycling!
